AUSTIN —— The Texas Permanent School Fund Corporation (Texas PSF) is pleased to announce the hire of Fernando Garza as Senior Vice President and Chief Audit Officer. In his new role, Garza will establish and manage the Fund’s first Internal Audit department, helping to further bolster Texas PSF’s internal controls framework.

Garza brings more than 15 years of in-depth experience in internal audit, risk management, and financial services. He most recently served as Vice President of Corporate Audit at Delta Community Credit Union in Atlanta, Georgia, where he led the development and execution of an annual risk assessment and audit plan. Prior to that, he held senior-level audit roles at large, international companies, including BBVA and KPMG.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Rice University, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.  Mr. Garza is also a veteran who served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. His appointment reflects Texas PSF’s dedication to recruiting top talent to drive its strategic objectives forward.
